o f th e p h arm acy, d rug co nsum p tio n, quality o f p rescrip tio ns, o rd ers, rep o rts, th e
register etc.
T his info rm atio n help s in p ro gram m e m anagem ent (o rd ers, staffing). T h e
m o rbid ity
d ata co llected at the d isp ensary level and their analysis co ntribute to ep id em io lo gical
surveillance. T rend s o f p rio rity d iseases by p erso n, tim e and p lace can be m o nito red
(see Epidemiological reports, annex 2 ) and an early w arning system s can be p ut in p lace.
Coverage of need
T his d ep end s o n the accessibility and o n the p o p ulatio n‟s p ercep tio n o f the health care
system . T he go al is to d eterm ine the p ro p o rtio n o f sick p eo p le w ho are actually being
treated . T h e evaluatio n is feasible by surveying rep resentative sam p les o f th e
p o p ulatio n (see belo w ).
Impact on the population
T he evaluatio n is co m p lex. It refers to the o bjectives o f red ucing m o rtality, m o rbid ity,
etc. S urvey p ro to co ls exist but are very d ifficult to p ut into p ractice (large sam p le siz e)
and the surveys m ust be rep eated to sho w trend s.
